The young Romanian pianist Stefan Doniga is one of the most active and appreciated artists of his generation, starting his musical training at the age of 7 and completing his academic studies at the National Music Academy from Bucharest, Romania, in 2002.
Tracing his deep admiration for the genius of Alexandr Skriabin, Stefan Doniga became the only Romanian pianist to perform and record the famous Russian composer’s complete cycle of Mazurkas. He also produced a series of historical first auditions of Sergei Bortkiewicz’ piano solo works as well as a CD including the world premiere recordings of the 2nd and the 3rd Piano Concertos belonging to this forgotten post-romantic composer, published at BRILLIAND CLASSIC record company in NETHERLANDS.
A national prize-winner, Stefan Doniga performed as the guest of the most important Romanian national orchestras and artists. He was invited to record together with the Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra as well as to perform in Norway, England, Mexico, Cuba, South Korea, Italy, France, China, Luxembourg, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Moldova, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Bulgaria etc.
Besides performing, Stefan Doniga leads a complex artistic and cultural activity, creating and presenting regular shows for the Romanian National Cultural Television and National Musical Radio, managing an artistic agency and several other chamber and symphonic ensembles as well as holding for almost 10 years the position of Artistic Manager of the Giurgiu State Philharmony of Romania.
The collaboration to the acclaimed Romanian young violinist Diana Jipa represents one of Stefan Doniga’s most successful projects, the recitals and video productions this duo created attracting the appreciation and admiration of both public and critics, reaching over 4.000.000 views online. They performed together more than 400 recitals during the past five years in 22 countries in Europe, North, Central and South America, Asia and Africa and recorded 2 CDs for the National Broadcasting Company in Romania.
